Wessex Archaeology plan more sessions for the
Jon Egging Trust Blue Skies programme

Early June saw eleven Bournemouth teenagers celebrate their completion of the Jon Egging Trust Blue Skies programme. Wessex Archaeology’s Kirsten Egging Dinwiddy, Steve Winterton and Phil Harding were delighted to attend the ceremony which took place in front of parents, teachers and all of those who contributed. The presentation was devised and staged by the students themselves; an impressive testament to the confidence boosting nature of the programme.

The two archaeology sessions, provided by Wessex Archaeology and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO)/Operation Nightingale, were very well received and in several cases were the favourite part of the programme. Next month one lucky student, alongside ‘inspirational person’ Steve Winterton, will be taking part in an Operation Nightingale excavation organised by Richard Osgood (DIO).

Wessex Archaeology are pleased to announce that plans are afoot for further sessions next year, and aim to provide opportunities for further experiences for this year’s graduates.
